ORIGIN AND ETHOS

Founded in 2021, Dopl World is an exploration into an interdimensional material culture, a blend of retro futurism and Rococo. Small batch and based in Brooklyn NY, Dopl World is an unapologetic celebration of indulgence and the alter ego explored through jewelry and artifacts.

Dopl World urges the wearer to explore their ‘alter ego’, a maximalist persona that lives beyond themselves. A projection of one’s own ‘doppelganger’.

Imagine a place out of time, a universe far beyond the reaches of our own. Enter Dopl World, an alternate reality uninhibited by the laws of physics, emerging from liminal space in brilliant incandescent light.  Artifacts from this utopic dimension are brought to life when worn, animated by gesture. An unapologetic celebration of indulgence, retro futurism meets Rococo in this luxurious exploration of an interdimensional material culture. Explore your Dopl World alter ego and coalesce with the altered self.

ETHOS AND CREATION

CONCEPT

Dopl World occupies a theoretical space, a fictional pocket universe filled with maximalism and intrigue. Inspired by the germanic lore of one’s ‘doppelgänger’, I created an abstraction, making the one interacting with the jewelry as becoming ‘one’s own doppelgänger’. Escapism through decoration.

WORLD BUILDING

During the infancy of Dopl World I wanted to create a solid foundation to both constrain my creative process. The visual blend of Rococo and retro futurism within the Dopl Universe is my way of interpreting a stand alone material culture, a dimension in which themes of the old harmoniously blend with the innovation of the new.

LOGO INSPIRATION

Graphic Design and direction by Treat Swarstad

Honing in on relics of communication we found intrigue in artifacts like silent move slides or family crests. Souvenirs of time representing culture and heritage. Using that language informed all Dopl graphic material still seen today.

Traditional industrial design processes like 3D printing and CAD modeling are utilized to form the backbone of the way I conceptualize within Dopl World, creating a unique blend of beauty, form, and function.
